Introducing Primepath – A Non-Traditional TTRPG of Skill, Specialisation, and Story
Hello everyone!
Finally, after several years working on ideas and design, iterating, and polishing, I’m proud to present Primepath – a flexible world-settings tabletop RPG system designed with fast, cinematic play with significant choice, narrative-determined dice rolling, and complete character control. You’ll explore forgotten ruins, muddle through political backstabbing, or charge headlong into combat with Primepath holding the game tightly to narrative, consequences, and player imagination.
What is Primepath?
Primepath is a lightweight at the table, complex in choice and flexibility, classless RPG system based on a distinctive 2d10 roll-over mechanism with exploding doubles and levels of success or failure. It is designed for GMs and players who like narrative consequence but desire something with a bit more structure than narrative-only games. Where players can see how their skills are impacting the story.
Primepath poses a simple question:
How successfully—or unsuccessfully did you do?
Core Features:
2d10 Roll-Over with Exploding Doubles
All actions are resolved with a 2d10 roll + bonuses vs. a Target Number (TN).
- Rolls that match or exceed the TN succeed.
- Doubles explode – roll both dice again and add the result, potentially creating dramatic highs or lows.
- The difference between your roll and the TN determines your degree of success or failure.
Degrees of Outcome
Success and failure come in levels – from minor to major – giving GMs a clear framework for interpreting results and shaping the story.
Classless but Structured Characters
Your character is not constrained by a specific class system, although you can use specialisations to flavour your characters towards the role you want to play.
Attribute-Driven Advancement
Attributes fuel growth. You improve related skills by training the core of who your character is: body, mind, or will. Your character’s inclination toward certain skills is linked to their personal attributes.
Genre-Flexible System
This system is designed to be flexible enough to cover any genre, the basic rules will cover fantasy, sci-fi and modern as a general base.
Player Agency through mechanics
While not overwhelming, players actions matter as die results matter and determine just how well a roll can impact the story or the world around you.
